I guess I should made the title "Highway capable vehicles that get more than 65 mpgUS". Honda is in there with the 250's 2 to chose from, new 500's with three to chose from, and the 700's with 5 to chose from world wide if you include the ultra rare Integra. The Rebel could sneak into this group as it is just about fast enough to qualify along with the 90 mpg PCX150 which makes a good commuter but isn't fast enough for cross country travel. The New Ninja300 could make 65 mpg with longer gears. The V-Strom and Ninja 650 are just off the mark. The BMW GS 650G is great on gas. Any others I could include? 2-300 cc scooters from Kymco, Sym Genuine, ect. I'm not sure what kind of economy you can get out of a Yamaha Majesty400. The just announced Honda Forza300 will be a great machine if they can keep the price under $5,000.

Honda is doing it right in my eyes. They are targeting real world useable value. No matter what the economy does, those values sell bikes, or anything else for that matter.

I'll be waiting for a good used CTX700. MPG should be even better than the adventure version of the 700

Till then, I just picked up a Vtwin 250cc Chinese Virago 250 clone for $160. And it runs great. It's going to be a bobber/cafe/mpg/durability test project.

I'd like a Metropolitan, it has a fuel injected, 50cc engine that I think might be water cooled as wel, 117mpg.

Same top speed as my 31 year old electric car that I drive to work.

I have to get a few miles from home before I hit a speed limit over 25mph and you can park a 50cc scooter on sidewalks or any where else you can park a bicycle.
