Thumbs up Honda Insight Owners Facebook Group

Hey guys, so I noticed there wasn't really an Insight page on FB, as there is with most cars. I mean, there is, but it's only for USA G1 Insighters, has only 166 people. I made my own group for any year Insight, for any person. If you're interested, please join. I am trying to grow it.

I hate to rain on a parade, but I would actively discourage people from using Facebook instead of existing forums.

Facebook is unparalleled as a social connectivity platform, but it completely SUCKS as an organized, searchable repository of information. Dedicated forums are better places to talk about cars.

I would argue for support of InsightCentral instead.

(Or participate with the active community of owners here, but that would sound obviously self-serving.)

It's not a substitute for InsightCentral (which I am a part of as the same username), it is a more refined and user-friendly sharing experience for the average person who does not know how to or wish to use the forums. This idea was based off of the Chevy Volt Owners page, which I am a part of and has helped me much, and gave me great joy sharing my car. It's more like an online car show.

I've seen Facebook kill auto forums, even when its participants have only the noblest of intentions.

FB participation siphons off the "social/community" feel of the forum, driving down regular visits and posts. A death spiral ensues.

So I strongly encourage people NOT to use FB if they value any particular independent forum. Put in the tiny amount of extra effort to use the forum. Use it or lose it.
