Hi Neil,
Well, I was first inspired by your xD exploits.
Next came the mirror removal/camera addition work.
Later, I saw your work with, what else, boxfish and your creative design utilizing this as an aero shape.
Finally, I see that you are enlightened on preserving our planet.
So it is with a gracious thank-you that I accept your kind words.
Jim.

Hi Jim,
I'm looking forward to seeing the FE results from this. You might see ~15% overall, and maybe more in the winter; as the denser air has a greater drag. I'm also looking forward to seeing it painted...
Are you going to add trailing wheel strakes, similar to what you showed on the concept renderings, and what Darin tried on his (temporary) boattail? After you get it on and working, are you going to tuft test it? I'm particularly interested on the underside; and if I remember correctly, the wheels strakes helped Darin's?
I hope you don't mind if I post some of your pictures on my Facebook account? There are people there who I'm sure will be interested in both your construction methods, and in the aerodynamics.
It finally dawned on me the significance of this picture:
This is a really elegant solution to (at least) two issues: opening the hatch door, and making use of the stock "cyclops" brakelight. Very nice, indeed.

Yes, wheel strakes will be added next year, when the weather is warm again.
As for tuft testing, yes I would like to perform this at some point, just to help others who are wondering about the angles on the underside, and the angle at which flow separation occurs.
I have an old 333mHz laptop, but would need a digitcam from somewhere. Any ideas on what would work with such a laptop?

I have to say it actually looks kind of cool. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

A possible addition to this, is a backup camera; since the loss of the vertical glass window on the back of the hatch? It could be on all the time, or only when needed in reverse.
And with a little finagling, that same camera could be used to view tufts on the underside of the tail extension!
