Bingo balls... you can play bingo while you're in the hot tub.. the only real question is from where to draw the balls?

There's definitely entertainment potential, but I'm not sure we really want to go there with this thread Christ!

Oh, we don't. Trust me!
I just found it worthy of mention, while keeping it on topic.
Actually, the ability to play a game would be quite interesting while hot-bathing. It might be a selling point, as well.

"Hey baby, wanna come over and play a little 'hot-tub bingo'?" Sadly, any takers might just run away after realizing it's not a euphamism!

HeHe. That'd be the fun of it, though. I know lots of girls that would probably be into it. (Shhh... don't tell my wife.)

So currently lacking a rigid cover for our now revived hot tub, I'm wondering if anybody has tried this idea yet?
We just ordered and received one of those bubble blankets as a cheap insulator for summer, but it's not going to cut it once it gets cold again. It does however make a relatively large difference in heater cycling vs. uncovered.

I have not tried it but I think that the pingpong ball idea could work and if they are to light you could poke a hole in if and fill it a 1/4 of the way with distilled water then seal it with seal-all. That would keep them down they could actually hold some heat but reduce the rate of transfer.
A great way to test this would be to get a few 5gal buckets fill them with equal amounts and temp water. Sit them out in the open just far enough that they will not shade each other and try air only ping pong balls, with water 1/4 filled, with both, and control. Measure the changes in temp over time them immediately retry with new water in the buckets and retest. The reason for redoing it is that the temp of the plastic and water in the balls can effect the water temp until they equalize.

I might try doing this with a small cooler to better attribute the heat loss through the surface. Something like a Coleman Lil' Oscar would be a good size for testing.
