Question How do I update mpguino firmware? No USB port on MPGuino..

I have this version:

What needs to be done to physically wire it to the computer so that I can make firmware changes and upgrades?

I searched and searched. There should be some adapter that hooks up to who knows where so that I can make firmware changes just like I do with a regular arduino..

One possibility I suppose is to buy an Arduino board and swap the ROM into it.

If you already have arduino, you could use it to program chip.
Problem is that chip in mpguino - it may have programmed without bootloader. Then you need to write bootloader into chip first.

Shouldn't there be 4 pins or so that I need to solder or attach a serial to USB board onto so that I can just upgrade it the same way as the regular arduino??

Wow. I'm surprised that the procedure for this is beyond the knowledge of the members of this forum. Who else could I ask?

You already made 2 topics about this and got many answers. What else do you want? You could ask directly from seller (dcb?) to get most accurate answer. As I said - you probably need programmer because there are no bootloader - bootloader is little program to write firmware to chip using USB.

something to read:

I took the chip out and put it into my aduino UNO. I tried to use arduino v.11 but it wouldn't run on win7 64bit bc it's old as sh*t so I went back to v1.0 and tried uploading it. Of course that didn't work and I got the error:
avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
which means it can't communicate with it. I was not surprised by any of this and fully expected it.

All of this is WHY I was asking for specific instructions. Not maybe's and probably's. The real answer would be, "oh yea, I did this before. What you do is <step 1>, <step 2>, <step 3> etc." Messing around for hours with maybe's and probably's = bad. Following proven instructions = good.
