Lol, you don’t have to buy anything. Most Americans forget they have the option to buy nothing. Consumerism won’t solve as much problems as anti consumerism will. Save your money, if you don’t believe in something, don’t buy it. Vote with your dollars for what you do believe in. If enough people stopped supporting what they didn’t believe in, those companies would go out of business. It’s a good strategy, if you want to effect change.

Don’t believe in child labor? Great, don’t support it. Etc etc

It's not a matter of not having to buy anything, but to be able to choose whatever serves oneself better.

That would work if humans were completely different than they are. Perhaps 2% of people are devout enough to drastically reduce their consumer impulses, but as with all religions, most people just sing the songs and then proceed as usual with their life.

Consuming less would somehow need to tap into innate human motivational schemes for the masses to really adopt the behavioral change. It's like teaching abstinence; it totally works, but few will practice it.

I do think online and virtual worlds will increasingly occupy our attention and reduce our appetite for consuming physical goods. If a virtual environment is compelling enough, there's no need to create it in reality.

...not saying this is necessarily something to be desired, but if Stupid Facebook can steal so much time by sucking, just imagine how much time can be stolen by an environment that doesn't suck.

That's BS. We will be forced to pay higher taxes and higher prices for everything that requires energy to be produced or transported. Which will hurt poor people the most. I wonder why the church of global warming hates poors so much.

The biggest thing most people do to "save the world" is use the global warming religion to justify buying them selves a new status/virtue signaling hybrid.
So like red point said the vast majority will sing the song and carry on.

Global warming has maybe a year left till it's dead.
The 2 biggest things that gave the global warming hypothesis legs was the Mann hockey stick graph which has been proven to be a load of hot steaming garbage and the 97% concensus lie.
The Mann hockey stick graph set the prescient for "this is what you need to find" and the 97% lie automatically discredited and justified ridiculing anyone who didn't help tow the line.

Plus there used to be a scientific concensus that the world was flat, less than 14,000 years old, and that the the continents never moved. Who was funding all of science at that time?
Follow the money indeed...

Ecoterrorists often act in a way frightening similar to what the Nomenklatura of the Soviet dictatorship used to act. Seems like they see themselves as the only ones entitled to certain comforts as if it was their reward for making everyone else "save the climate" for them to enjoy.

DDG results: Major League Fishing? Fort Leonard Wood? Frank Lloyd Wright?

I thought Global Warming had already been folded into Climate Change (Assumed To Be Warming), based on the lack of supporting evidence.

First they called it global warming because the scientists decided to ignore solar forcing. Then they called it climate change, but then the scientists realized that the climate has always changed and it's getting better in some places so that doesn't work. Then they changed it to "planetary emergency", I guess that makes it sound more dire and they can lump in volcanos and earthquakes in with bad weather and blame it on man.

It's all the same, only the names have changed.
