It's less of a transition than you think- the pedals are still in the right places and the shift pattern is the same. After you get rolling the first time you forget there's a difference.

When I was working in California I was given a drive of a 1971, pre-Federal spec, Corvette Stingray, and I found that having the gear lever on the wrong side made no difference.

I've always wondered if having first shifted with the "wrong" hand might make transition to RHD easier. Apparently it doesn't matter.

Good news if I ever decide to chase some JDM imports...Nissan Paos intrigue me, among other things. Or go British-ish and find a Lotus Carlton

Love the Lotus Carlton. I had the bog standard Carlton of the same ilk. It was my first AT.

But even better would be a Mk 1 Lotus Cortina. Had a loan of one for a weekend and it was an amazing car. An out and out street racer.

Oh the homologation Escorts and Cortinas are baller. I was briefly interested in imports before I found out that Cadillac used to really be a fantastic marque. Those British Fords were one of the first cars, along with Astons and Alfas, that helped me look outwards again. These days (regardless of what side the wheel is on), I'd love to import things as varied as the Nissan Stagea, a Kei car of some kind, a Pao, a Carlton, Nissan President or Toyota Crown, Lada Niva, or an old UAZ.

Oh yeah, stick. Oops. Sorry. Stick. Still sweating it out on how teaching wifey will go.

I just went through the Ford V4 applications, and the Saab Sonett III looks pretty good. 0.31 drag coefficient!

Why do I have to keep liking things that have carburetors?!?!?!
