Neither will the airplane, but no-one is willing to sign the dotted line beneath the approval of their use ...
Airplanes have to take far more V/m from radar installations than your puny phone can pump out.
Can't use you iPad on take-off and landing ?
Fat chance the blokes up front have their departure and arrival charts on their airline-provided iPads ...
The USAF just bought some 18 thousand of them.
They'll replace one hell of a lot of paper.

Same in hospitals.
You'll see the doctors running about with cellphones.
Have you ever seen somebody with a pacemaker die because he sat in front of you on the train, the bus, or just walked by you ?

Didn't fuel injection start in the 50s/60s in drag racing? Or atleast it became more popular.

...difference between outside high-power radar/radios and inside cell-phone/game-devices is the aircrafts' skin acting as a "Faraday" screen: (1) it shields the inside of the body from outside radiations, but likewise (2) it contains the inside radiations inside the body.

Hitler's Messerschmitts had FI by 1940 ...
Carbureted Spitfires would cut out when being unloaded.

So the UA flight 93 calls are fake ?

The windows are too big to keep cellphone signals in. Or out.

Not quite true. There's some evidence in the recent past of cars cutting out due to poorly protected ECUs being exposed to signals from mobile phone masts and military instillations.

Also, if you've ever listened to the radio and heard a morse-code like sound from the radio it's most likely because a phone has gone off in the studio. This has also happened at parties, usually where phones have been placed on top of cheap speakers.

Engines and lights cut out and speedometer dials swung up to 150mph as motorists drove past the dome.

At the time the MoD said there was no guarantee that the Trimingham radar on the north Norfolk coast was the cause.

It now says it will consider claims for compensation after an inquiry found the radar was "out of alignment".

An MoD spokeswoman said the inquiry revealed the Type 93 radar spinning inside the dome had been out of alignment between November 2005 and February 2006.

The spokeswoman said that there was no danger to the public or personnel but the MoD would now consider outstanding compensation claims on a case-by-case basis.

Not that I mind. I love my F1 and MotoGP. I just think it's funny, that's all.
So is there an implication that they shouldn't be allowed?

It's remarkable that whenever the economy turns sour people turn to proposing bans and prohibitions, advancing a sentiment that "a thing like that shouldn't be allowed!"

Welcome to the incubator of authoritarianism.

So if there is widespread popular dismay of something, and the government responds... Are we mistaking democracy for something else here?

Sure, the economy has made everyone uneasy. The largest benefit it had is in the strengthening and reaffirmation of our civil culture. Democracy is going to be here for years to come. (not to worry )

To motorsport: Without it, we wouldn't have half the efficiency and safety we have now. Think of how more beneficial it is to a racing team if their vehicle can protect their driver and also contain anything, be it bearings, lubricant, or a spoiler that will give itself a few extra joules saved from heat or a few square inches of ground contact or...
