^Analogies. Reminds me of when drilling in ANWR was all the rage. In an effort (vain?) to make numbers so enormous relatable- daily U.S. oil consumption for example- I calculated the volume of the biggest building in town and how fast it would go from full to the roof to empty were it filled with oil and drained at the rate we consume it. I also calc'd it out for Olympic sized swimming pools.

I am going to keep driving my bug even if gas is $1/gal.
I am going to put the Camaro back on the road and build a new generation V6 motor for it. Then sell the bug when gas goes back over $3/gal and everyone freaks out.
Hopefully the smaller Camaro engine will be in and running by then.
That 5.0L cast iron boat anchor sucks fuel and sucks in the power department, if I am going to have a 200hp engine with around 200 torque then I might as well have a V6 that is 200 pounds lighter and gets decent fuel economy.
The Camaro has not burned through a tank of gas since I joined ecomodder.

I filled up for 27$ today, went 600 miles. Freaking awesome. The Mustang is definitely coming out of retirement if gas drops below 2.30.

Well in my area gasoline just went below the $2.00 mark. Were at $1.96 to $1.99 a gallon now. I still can't believe this?

how much

A decade or so ago I calculated the size of a planetoid equal in volume to the amount of oil extracted since Colonel Drake sunk his 68-ft well in Titusville,Pennsylvania in 1858.
The diameter came in at 220-miles and in Earth orbit, would cast a shadow that would reach from Dallas,to Austin,Texas.
(for you math enthusiasts, calculate the orbital altitude, such that this orb would appear the same size as the Moon to a ground observer)
