Interesting thread.

I bought my first vehicle 21 years ago (a '68 Chevy pickup) and still have it. I apparently go through a lot of vehicles because I've owned 17 more cars and trucks (that I can remember) plus five motorcycles for a total of about... $79000k for 23 vehicles.

Hmm. That seems like a lot.

However, most of those were sold for more than I paid. I currently have eight vehicles. If I sold them all today , I'd have a net of $18000 profit (excluding maintenance, tax, insurance, etc).

I am getting on the rather high end of the spectrum now

$27000 over the last 18 years for repairs and outright purchase of 7 vehicles.

Ufdah, too much lost on vehicles.

Sad part is I can't sell cars for much of anything even if their in good shape.

Ah well.
Even worse is I still own 5 of the 7 (and they run)

That's not anywhere near the high end....

While it may be for the small subset of people on this thread, it's still nothing compared to most people. I wonder if there is a report on this about people in general...

My coworker buys a new car every 18-24 months. He perpetually has car payments (and payments on two motorcycles) and in the end has nothing to show for it. I'd guess he makes payments totaling about $10,000 a year. Plus full coverage insurance on all three..

He's kept this up for 35+ years now...
