Nice find. Where did you get it?

Beware, those batteries must be charged under compression or they'll end up looking like this.

Yes it's a Prius pack, 273V 6.5Ah (1.8kWh) nominal. That's enough for me to run a heated massage chair, a heater and maybe a couple of angle grinders all the way to work! (It think i'll skip the grinders tho, unless i can hook them up to the cars wheels somehow)

Thanks for the heads up on the compression, i might have ended up with those cute but useless blowfish-ish style cells.

Pardon my ignorance, what does that mean? Do you mean the batteries must be physically compressed...? Or is it in an electrical term?

Yes, these are held together with threaded rods and connect at the ends in serial to each other. I guess ditching the round can like the Honda IMA system uses saved something?

Curious, how much does a 1.8kwh prius pack go for? A honda one goes for $2,000 new, not sure the kwh if anyone happens to know? I hear the raw materials of a 10kwh lithium battery can be had for as low as $3,000.

I think the stealerships should get with times!

I've always thought a Prius pack made into a backpack would make for a great coil gun. Maybe a directional emp gun for the police to shutdown cars.

Ive seen them from 700 bucks on up. You need to balance the pack or cycle the cells to make sure they are all in tip top shape as one cell will ruin the whole output and abuse of the output will kill the weakest cell.
