There is a big premium associated with a diesel engine in the manufacturing process to start with. It only makes sense from a marketing point of view to try dillute this premium in the price of an upscale car.
I've only owned vw diesels for the last 11 years (since I was 16 basically), but I can't wait to see what other manufacturers will have to offer within the next 2 years.

The good news is, is that now that Honda DOES have a diesel coming to the US. Someone is bound to figure out how to swap one of these into an Accord. You guys said it yourselves. It's just a Euro spec accord and that means, in theory at least, it should fit into the Accord and possibly even a Civic.

I wonder how long it would take befor someone puts one in an Insight body... I suspect it would be a tight fit tho.

That would be dreamy, I would totally give up the hybrid technology for a diesel engine, but yeah probably half the displacement of this one.

A Canadian market smart diesel into an Insight would be more likely.
What I'm hoping is that the new TSX is as slick as the outgoing one. The outgoing model had one of the lower Cd's in the mass production fleet. .27, if I'm not mistaken.

Heck, even energy efficient fridges are only available in the fancy models. I tried to buy a SMALL fridge this summer with the Canadian "Energy Star" rating, and learned it was only available on the full-size, full bells 'n' whistles models. *mad*

That could possibly be because the little ones don't use that much power to begin with that it's just assumed they are efficient...

Yeah it's sort of like the 30mpg mark. When something is already "great", why make it better, or at least why feel the need to differentiate beyond that level of ordinary greatness.

Budomove: exactly - the "good enough" mindset. But it's not good enough for me.
