My recollection is that my parents had a Scamp around 1980. They used it while they were building a geodesic dome on the coast.

But I'd swear it had a rear entrance. Can you find a picture of the Coleman version? Google Images can't?

I dunno about Coleman but Uhaul had some look a likes.

I think Boler invented them and sold manufacturing rights to Scamp. Fiberglassrv . Com has the history I just don't remember it all ATM. Bolerama is a site dedicated to them. I was into them a while back. Casita is a similar design, think they made the uhauls.

Thanks, I guess. That sort of represents everything I'm against, except is is a Superbeetle.

Sort of because it does represent an early form of open source — plans published in Popular Mechanics and it is a coachbuilt-'wagen.

I think more along the lines of a Rumpler Tropfenwagen built as a woodie with Studebaker Starlight coupé rear glass, a bamboo frame and bamboo slats in the headliner and side panels, and sea-grass floor mats.
