Rubber needs maintenance to stay in good shape too. You should have a look over at autopia.org where the detailling freaks go nuts about paint/trim/wheel/tire/... care.

Just like those Iridium spark plugs.. didnt make anny difference for me whatsoever in mpg or performance..

if it did anything for performance, we're talking a
fraction of a hp and not detectable to the butt dyno..

the tires on the windstar have about 110K on them. the side wall pressure is 35 but i have run them at 40(air) most of their life. i was rotating them Saturday so i measured the tread depth. all four tires had different average tread depth. they ranged from 3/32 to 5/32. But they all were consistently 1/32 less in the center groove than at the the two outside grooves.

things like the width of the tire on wheel have some significance too.

what kind and size were the tires? cheapos?

I have Potenza G001's and I think mine will be fine because i used to drive like a dick with em and wore the outter edges down a bit..

their directional too, so when I got new wheels,
I swapped pass with drivers side and had all new outter edges to wear down..

I also freshioned up my alighment, wasn't bad at all..
My center tred is almost 2/32 more than the outter edges, so I'm not sweating it..

Their due anyways.. but I'm keeping logs of my wear per tire..

I aired up the tires in the shadow from 30 to 40 psi, it rolls much easier now. Coasts much farther.

Your shadow should be pulling 28 - 32mpg EASILY..

its slightly lighter than your turbo coupe and they both have a turbo setup, but the shadow has the sohc 8v 2.5 while the turbo coupe has the 2.3, so it should even out..

If i'm able to pull low 30's in a 2.4 dohc 16valve truck while hauling a couple hundred pounds of headstones and cement, you should easily be able to smoke that..

Work on that shadow more..
