I am pretty sure that he intended to write "mirrors" instead of "windows," which would not be very ecomoddish. I know that at least one member on here installed cameras, but it seemed like neither they nor the screens lasted too long. The screens also overheated and were not visible in direct sunlight.

Oh, right, mirrors.

It was late, I was sleepy.

Perhaps partial boat tailing would work? Be a lot easier, not as effective, but plenty of other plus sides to consider.

You'd do better to get them off the A-pillar.

Periscopes, like the Dymaxion.

Moved to the fenders. See also: Peep mirror

I'd be quite afraid that a transparent boat-tail would have some side effect regarding light refraction.

Quoted for truth.

The VW Nils uses video mirrors, and the screens are tunneled into the doors to prevent glare on the screens.

invisible mirrors

Are there any ABA results on here of just straight out window removal? I imagine that would tell us what was possible for gains.

I remember older prototypes of fuel efficient cars had tiny camera on the exterior, then video screens on the interior in a similar sightline location.

If you can dredge up an article for the 1984 Ford Probe-IV concept car,I believe that they mention that their side mirror design essentially made them aerodynamically invisible.

Some nice pics:
1983 Ford Probe IV Concept

When you do a google book search for "ford probe IV" all sorts of interesting aero gold pops up! https://www.google.com/search?q=1984...w=1280&bih=699

Kiplinger's reminds me that by 1983 Ford had developed a 1.2l three cylinder engine... hmmm, what happened to it?

Alas, haven't found data specific to the Probe's mirrors yet.
