I'm in. 40+ MPG Just Started Hypermiling

Thanks for getting me started guys. Great info..
Thanks also to Basjoos for you great work.
I was getting ~300 miles per tank, now I am at 505 miles on this tank, and it isn't quite empty yet. That translates to at least 42 MPG.
With a few more mods I think 50MPG is within reach, and this is not the most efficient Honda engine/trans. My Civic EX has the D16Z6 Si engine (with 385K miles)

Hi J J -

You listed a roof rack delete in your current mods. I take it you're talking aftermarket racks, right? (I don't remember seeing OEM racks on the sedan.)

Welcome to the site.

Nice milage with simple mods there! Now I'll have to get off my lazy butt and actually do something other than "adjusting the nut behind the wheel" to keep up

Yea, I removed an after market bike rack. The bike fits inside with back seat folded.
I updated my cars profile, and made a couple more mods.
48MPG and rising!

How'd you do the power steering delete? Simple belt-ectomy? 48 mpg is great!

yup. Just removed the belt. I didn't even miss the power steering in my commute today.
I was also eyeing the AC belt, but I resisted..might need that one soon.
