Impending Fuel Price Surge

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h...yT7gAD8UNMHC00

Exxon is suing Venezuela for nationalizing their facilities after they were told to leave and refused to comply. Venezuela as a result will be refusing to export fuel to the US and is promising other countries - who wants to bet Iran? - will support them. Gas seems like it may get a lot more expensive because there is no way Bush and Co. will not destroy this country protecting Exxon. Situations like these are why the US is moving to bio-fuels; efficiency and cleanliness has nothing to do with it.

This is a good time to be doing what we are doing. Getting cars more efficient, off gasoline, and even learning to use our own strength again.

There is also some interesting commentary here from an atypical American who believes Venezuela is completely correct in doing this. I tend to agree as well, but I don't like the escalation this is taking or the negative toll this will have on the US.

When Bush suspended heating fuel aid to the poor people of New England, Hugo Chavez stepped in and donated fuel for thousands of homes. I personally know people who aren't freezing to death in this cold winter because of the altruism of Chavez that triumphed over the war-and-profit-mongering Bush. So needless to say, I am biased. I wonder if they will suspend the aid.

People invest money in a country and then they think they own it.

there's a load compromis'in go'in on

Oh ,about the 6 degrees of warming NGC. the punch line in the show was that positive feedback will start occuring between 1 and 2 degrees and after that no one can stop the melting of the snowball. and then we won't need any oil only food.

what are the reasons oil is too cheap.

I have friends who live in Venezuela and Chile - both in major cities - and neither seem to claim there is a human rights problem with beating women... And how is domestic abuse terrorism? Terrorism is strictly defined as actions against civilian targets for political goals. Nothing but that is terrorism unless you like to follow that new language with words like "nuculeur." Anyways, Pinochet was the closest thing to humans rights abuse from down there that I've heard of and he's been gone for a long time. So please, elaborate.

NOBODY is a bigger terrorist than w.

Besides, we need a price surge. Evidently gas is still too cheap- I can list a hundred supporting observations too...

While i don't really thing that 'Gas is too cheap' in the daily life, i do agree that 'Gas is too cheap' when it comes to the cost on the planet. By that i mean - If gas cost $20 a gallon then maybe we'd finally see REAL efforts by our governments and auto makers to finally do away with oil.

And Frank's right, the worlds biggest terrorist is Baby Bush.

Let keep the discussion related to fuel and not get side tracked.

It's not really the goverment or the auto manufactors. They make what people buy. Most americans are happy with 23 mpg. Until that changes they have no incentive to change what they have been doing.

"The price may hit $3.50 a gallon this spring because of problems obtaining alkylates."
Nothing seems to be working out well for gasoline right now.

Also to note, from that same article "'[Venezuela] represent 12 percent of our oil supply," says Mr. Proctor. '"
I didn't realize it was quite that high, personally.

In fact, I'm betting a lot of my dough that oil demand will greatly exceed supply in the next 10 years. The higher the oil prices, the younger I'll stop working.

On a side note, I gotta say, even though republicans historically got along with Canada better than democrats, economically speaking, please, don't screw up this time. We want change too up here.
