Not sure if any of you Insight owners knew this but if you cycle through the trip A,B and the odo readings, when you get back to the trip A and B the readings are updated to the point where you hit the A&B sections.
Learned this today. Now I can check the trip mileage at any specific point in the trip without waiting for the 1 minute update.
This helps me to check the mileage on specific portions of my routes and make comparisons in mileage for specific acceleration and deceleration cycles.
One situation is where I turn right on a road and have to stop at a light about .5 mile down the road. I need to accelerate to about 45 MPH and then slow down to stop for a left turn light.
After 20 miles I managed to do that sequence with only a .2 MPG average loss.
It also allows you to calculate the exact consumption for particular segments of your route, and possibly modify your driving technique to maximize your overall mileage.
Give it a try if you didn't already know it works.
The FCD button, above the power window switches, does something similar. It toggles to the "segment" display, which is somewhat like Trip C. Hold FCD to start a new segment. It updates once a minute, or tap FCD twice to get an update at any time.
