Based on the lack of bow wave, I'd say that that is an M-hull instead of a trimaran.

I'm reminded of Gordon Beurig's TASCO prototype.

Interesting Aerodynamic [Side]cars




Just A Car Guy: Kim came across photos of Soviet LSR sidecar motorcycles, with beautiful aluminum fairings. The third wheels qualified the motorcycles in their hand-beaten aluminum fairings for sidecar records.

That style of helmet became popular with bicycle racers decades later.

The Fageol Supersonic was originally designed and built by Joel Thorne and Art Sparks at Thorne Engineering Racing Shop in Burbank, California in 1938 as a Land Speed racing car.

Public response to the little Isetta was gratifying to BMW, but as its shortcomings were also pointed out at this time ("too small"), it was decided to go "up a class" and produce a larger car with room for four. Management by May 1956 had already committed to the introduction of the BMW 700, a totally new design, by 1959, so the 600 was seen as an easily produced interim model using already existing Isetta production equipment.

The 1956 prototype did indeed look like a stretched Isetta, with its stock 2-tone front door and Isetta bumpers, but with the wheelbase lengthened by 165cm and R67 boxer motor driving full-width axles................

It was pricey, however, at 200 Marks more than a VW Beetle. .........

In 1959, DAF started selling the world's first car with a continuously variable transmission, the small four seater DAF 600.

The 1968 DAF 55 carried a bigger water cooled 1,108 cc (67.6 cu in) OHV four cylinder engine derived from the Renault 8 Cleon engine. Its body design was altered from the 44 by a new front which accommodated the longer engine and radiator, bigger taillights, and a more plush interior. The front suspension was changed from a transverse leaf spring to MacPherson struts with torsion springs and an antiroll bar.

Prototypes and special cars
For a small company, DAF made a huge number of prototypes. Also, famous coach builders like Giovanni Michelotti and OSI made cars based on the DAF technique. For instance, the OSI City Car, which turned into a miniature. There was also Michelotti's "Shellette" beach car, which was later modified to use Fiat 850 underpinnings. The Dutch Royal Family used one of these at their Porto Ercole summer residence.[9]

That body shape fairly screams 1968.
