This is an interesting one! (Aero compact pick-up truck 40-50 MPG)
From the FB Group Franken-cars and stuff. Owner's name is Danny O'Neal (are you on here?)
The underside is particularly fascinating!

Those are astounding numbers for a 2.3L gasoline truck with a '93 carb.

I like his metalwork style. Simple yet effective. I'd have probably lowere the nose so a bit less air gets funneled under the truck, but otherwise, it's a good, driveable compromise!

Lots of unsupported edges, and the finish won't weather well. Otherwise
The half-way aerocap is interesting.

Says he's respringed the carb. But also admits to hypermiling.

This is why I'm interested in it. Check the sideskirts. They actually meet under the truck! So whatever gets past the nose gets shoveled aside.
Likely not as efficient as sealing the underside properly, but it's intriguing!

I think it's for visibility. Could be wrong. Be interesting to invite him here!

In one of the posts and replies on Facebook he is asked if he is on Ecomodder. He says "no." The image links in the OP seem broken. Here are two of the pictures:
I hope he drops by to talk about his cool truck mods.

naked Ranger HWY MPG
Amanda, here at Copy-Pro, just called her dad about his Ranger, 4-cyl, IL, dual -sparkplug-engined, manual transmission Ranger of the same era.
He recorded around 20-mpg in town, and 25-30-mpg on the open road, naked, without any mods at all.
I believe that Ford Motor Company published Cd 0.40 for this generation truck.
The Chevy/ GMC , S- 10/ Somoma was Cd 0.42.
The original ISUZU,Chevy, GMC S-10/ S-15 was Cd 0.475, which Gale Banks was able to get down to Cd 0.315 for their 'Syclone on the salt,' land speed record at Bonneville in 1989.
I suspect that 'hypermiling' did play a role in the 67-mpg claim, but at it's frontal area, I wouldn't be surprised if she was knocking off mid- thirties at real highway speeds.

Sounds about what I got on my ranger back when it was fueled.

Regarding smaller pickup truck fuel mileage, my own S10 is doing so much better with new spark plugs, ignition wires, brakes all around and took the winter weight out including sand bags in bed. The bed cover is still working after all these years but the corroplast is looking tired.
I wish this gentleman luck, jerks around here park by braille and would make scrap metal out of such a front end.
