Get the CD from Craig Vetter for starters. I have two mopeds and lots of bikes with a variety of aero devices in the works. There is CFD software that you may want to use in conjunction with a CAD system. Or you could go to the store, get a 6" action figure, and do 1/10 scale modelling with a box fan. I started with cereal box cardboard and some yarn.

You know I'm looking for sponsors, right? That thing won't get to the Flats by itself.

Do you mean the 470 mpg CD? (I've had it for a long time.)

I'm thinking of going the action-figure route but also some full-scale yarn testing if spring ever gets here.

I don't know where you live but I've been to the salt the past two years and let's just say that it's not getting any better. If there's any pavement venues near you they would be a lot safer bet.

Northwest of Normal, obviously.

This picture was added in 2014. Can that be right, I thought it was 2016?

The salt is thin and fragile, the mining operation sucks the whole surface down. But the problem that year was creeks of salt-water brine I had to ford. It was brutal on the car. I don't know how those rusty Model Ts can appear there every year for decades.

The other variable is that my reservation number may not available in time. It's in the mid-hundreds and is projected for 'mid-year'. The point is to take the Fun Utility Vehicle to America's Playground. For marketing purposes (I'm not affiliated). It needs to happen, I'd be happy to crew on someone else's ride.

To be fair, there were some pretty fast speeds turned during Speed Week but I was there at BMST (bikes only). Last year there was only one course and it was bbuummppyy. One guy I know got bumped outside the 1km light and only had a speed for the mile, lol. I suspect Speed Week would be better as the salt is a bit fresher, even though they always look for the best place to place the course(s).

I only regret not going 20 years ago when it was better. I live in Maine and have been volunteering/racing at Loring since the first event in 2009.

I think they should fly salt in all winter long in big airplanes. Because, environmentalists.

There's huge piles of it just the other side of I-80, they just have to pump more of it back the other side of the highway.
