Just a nice message from a long-time lurker
Posting this simply because it was nice to hear from a lurker (zero posts) who has been visiting the site regularly for 8+ years!
(Name removed to protect the innocent...)
Quote:
Hey, Darin.
[REDACTED] here, one of your long-standing lurkers.
I've been driving Geo Metros since 1993. 'Tried my darndest to get a Metro to do 60 mpg at 60 mph in real-world driving. Got it to 58.5 but that is the best I can seem to manage. These are my daily drivers, no radical tricks: Just careful driving and minor modifications anyone could reasonably do. Best tanks ever were 68+ mpg, that with a car-full of camping gear, including a bike! - in warm weather and on flat roads... Such is not to be found on my home turf, which is north-central PA.
Got many of the good ideas I've used from ecomodder, so for that, I thank you and the good folks who take the time to do the write-ups.
Thanks for everything you do, and have done, for so many years!
Cheers!

Thanks for rememberizing the lurkers. Some of our posters don't consider that the walls have eyes. Currently the front page shows 909/13=~70:1.
Anyways, I've succumbed to peer pressure. Parked out front is a 1990 XFi.
I don't have a camera [battery] at the moment, but my friend took a picture last night and when it shows up I'll start a thread. I have an oval Dish antenna (to cut in half) and the curve exactly matches the rear wheelwell of the Metro.
From 45mpg to 60? I have some work cut out for myself.

I lurked for a few years, but gave in eventually.
Nice to hear some positive feedback from seemingly nowhere!

AND he (lurker) tells me he also has a 1st gen Miata. Exceptional taste in automobiles! He's happy with the 40-ish MPG he gets bombing down the highways in it.

I know, right!?
It got me wondering what the Venn diagram of Metro / Miata/MX-5 / G1 Insight ownership looks like. Appreciation for purity of purpose & design? Hmm...
