The fixed-cost infrastructure fee seems reasonable to me. After all, the costs of building & maintaining the power grid don't depend on how much electricity you use. It's just the price you pay to have access. If it's too high, you could look into the cost of going completely off the grid.

According to the book called Carbon Busters the only car that costs more than the fuel you put in it over its lifetime, is the Prius, this is based on an 11 year lifetime for the car and average miles/year of driving.
I am not complaining about having to pay for the infestructure of the business I make use of. My objection is that it is not all included in the price per Kwh, which leads to a situation where in the cost per Kwh goes up as the amount used goes down! After all every other business includes in the price of the goods and services it provide, the fixed and variable cost of doing business. Even the price of car insurance depends on the risk the driver represents! On average, Low risk drivers pay less than high risk drivers.
