re: tires

Yeah - I used to have low profile tires with insanely hard sidewalls on my Civic.

The problem with that was one of the rims was cracked - and I didn't know it. It was leaking air, and I never used to check my tires except on fill ups, which were about every 2 weeks... so I could go up to a week without any air in a tire.. and never notice a difference. I never noticed an impact between fillups after I started monitoring it either... then I got the rim fixed, had it tested for leaks w/ the same tire on it, and started checking it every day when I put it on, I still didn't get an FE change.

Anyway - the point was, with low profile sidewalls, it's very difficult to tell without a gauge if you have a soft tire... they're never actually SOFT.

you are right, at first i thought my tire pressure gauge was broken because the tire looked fine but when i started adding air the pressure went up. ill keep an eye on it to see if i loose air again and get it fixed if there's something wrong

I just had my best trip today. 5.6L/100km - 42MPG. I don't know if it was because of filling up my tires or the 2% change in the scan gauge. 2% of 42 is only 1MPG so i guess i gained 1MPG from filling the tires. Yesterday was my last best of 6.0L/100km - 39MPG, 3MPG in one day feels good even if it was because of calculation error
