Your equations are welcome. I think I might have 1 or 2 figured out.

What is your take on the old style electro mechanical meters appearing to pick up on VoltAmps consumed?

You could of left them in there. It helps to make sense. Im just confused as to why I get inserts from the power company to buy CFL bulbs and my local wallmart sells power company certified cfl lamps that cost a buck a piece if they are causing them to loose money in the transmission of power?

Over all CFLs use less power than regular bulbs and they are really cheap. But if every one uses lots of them the phase distortion current they run off could cause other problems down the line. I think this is one of those things where its a management and bean counter decision, not an electrical engineer decision.
Old man should know all about people not listening to the engineer.

And any electrical engineer should know about harmonic resonance in the lines. I don't really fully understand it, just how to minimize and avoid it.
