I hope they also make smaller sized units, like projector beams, etc. That would be sweet for my CarBEN design!

They're 7" in diameter, so that sounds "Beetle Size" to me.

They seem like they are the size of the old sealed beam headlights? The ones that were one on each side.

Correct. 7" round is an old sealed beam size. They are plug and play into a lot of older cars. The military has started using these in just about everything.
The quality of the beam pattern on the other hand...
Sealed beam.
Low beam
high beam
$600/pair

Price is semi-ridiculous. I won't spend $600 on headlight replacements in the life of maybe 10 vehicles, and those headlamps won't last that long.
Even with HID's, I wouldn't spend that much on several vehicles' replacements.
Maybe it's a step in the positive, though. Someone will probably tear into 'em and find out what makes 'em tick, then post the results online, just like game system modders.
Anyway - they're 10 LED units, so maybe what Wagonman76 is working on will actually work!

Why do they draw so much juice? 250mA per LED in low beam sounds like a lot of electricity, doesn't even cut a standard halide bulb amp draw in half. Hella & VW are working on some that are only 19W per beam, about 1.5A. See

about halfway down. I think I will wait a little until high production brings down the price, too.

19W/12V=1.6A
250mA*5LED's = 1.25A...
I'm not sure where Hella's lights are any better?

The trucklite round? looks like a wide, dim rectangle with a bright square in the middle.

Here it is in comparison to stock headlamps on a jeep, IIRC, pic by GhostDakota:

Not a great beam pattern in my eyes considering the ls600hl LED triple projectors do better for light output consistency:
Those 7" LED headlights would be blinding to any driver caught in oncoming traffic.
And plu-n-play (drop-in) HID kits into a stock reflector housing are a huge no-no, they're even illegal to have in a lot of states.
