MPGs in Michigan

Hey all. Been lurking here a while, but decided to jump in. I drive a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3 and a 1994 Ford Bronco. The Mazda is the DD, and gets about 27 mpg mixed highway/street. After 90k+ miles, mileage dropped to around 22-23 mixed a due to a slipping clutch. Clutch still slips, but a recent tune-up and some aero mods have brought the mpgs back up some.

Here's the list of basic mods to get back some of my MPGs:
- fresh iridium plugs
- aired up tires to 50 psi
- homemade lower grille and fog light block off
- 3 inch homemade front air dam
- more to come . . . I'm pushing my luck with the missus - making her car look too "trashy". Ha! Then again, she's the one killing my MPG average!

Anyway, it's good to be aboard.

Welcome to ecomodder!
You may want to change trolling to lurking.
Trolling is frowned upon on most forums.

Duh!

HA! Thanks, that's what I meant - I was in a hurry. Definitely not a troll! . I'm in Ann Arbor and yeah, the Bronc's a 351 - looking forward to trying to get some decent mileage out of the big guy.

Anyway, here's some pics of the Mazda and the recent ghetto mods:

Ok, so I don't have 5 posts, so just use the links.

Happy motoring!

Bronco is in Salt Lake City for now. I'm working out west this summer, so I'll be picking it up in a few weeks. Previous owner said about 12-15, but we'll see.

Ok air to 50 psi since tires on that mostly max 50 psi just read max psi on tires then air to it.

My F250 tires max is 80 psi.

Then on highway just cruise 60-65 but when you go downhill just go 70-80 mph then let itself do work like you keep same position on gas when you drive flat to hill then downhill.

That how I got better gas.

60-65, maybe. 70-80? Never. You'll waste more gas getting to that speed than you'll gain back from coasting, especially with an aerodynamic brick like a Bronco.

You never own trucks with 351W.

I know that how I got 17 out F250 it weight twice than bronco. Empty it weigh 6,500 While Bronco like around 5,600 lb.

Plus 96 E350 passenger weigh almost 9K and I get 16 mpg highway with 15 people.

Well when you go to hill then you start downhill push more gas that how it roll faster and let itself slow to 65 mph.
