Hi from Pahrump, Nevada

Another left coaster wants to say hi to everyone!

I found this site about 3 wks ago, took the roof rack off, and got a scan gauge II, to try to get better mileage out of my Expedition. I'm getting about 16.8 now - better than 15.6 before! Yay! Next step, an electric motor hybrid add-on from NetGain.

I'm really enjoying everyone's posts and love this site!

Luckily I don't have a daily commute anymore - I retired in Feb.

It's about 7 mpg into town one way, though, so it's about $4 a trip. All flat desert road.

Upgrading traditional gas vehicles to gas electric hybrid

Net Gain has a very slick looking system of adding a hybrid electric system to an existing front engine, RWD, vehicle with an automatic transmission.

The electric motor boosts the gas motor for acceleration from a stop when you are getting about 2-8 mpg, as well as adding assist when needed.

I want to try it in my Expedition, and will keep you all posted on the results.

(BTW, i don't have anything to do with NetGain, but have ordered an Impulse 9 motor from them to convert my MR2, with a blown engine, to an EV.)

Welcome to the site. I do hope you'll keep us up to date with the results of your EV projects.

PS - I'd be taking the 944 into town instead of the Expedition, if you're not hauling stuff

Darin
