Looking to interview people who bought a Geo Metro or other cars from the 90s.

Hi,
I'm a reporter from a business news Website in NY. I'm working on a story on how small cars from the 90's, like the Geo Metro or Ford Festiva have gained popularity because of fuel efficiency.

I'm looking to interview some people on why they decided to buy one of these cars, and if they really did save on gas.

Feel free to email me.

Thanks

Hey there!

I have a fuel economy car from the 90s, but I think it might be too "cool" for what you're thinking of, . I'm sure you'll get a few responses though. Could you please leave your email so our members can contact you?

Ben

My Honda Civic is just out of the 90's (it's a 2000), so it probably doesn't count. And I bought it in early 2004, when gas was still relatively cheap. But fuel efficiency was part of my purchase decision. That and it was Honda, so it will last a long time.

I just bought a 96 Geo Metro yesterday just for the gas mileage. While slightly abusing the speed limit 5-8 mph I got 46 mpg on the 195 mile trip.....the old EPA rating of 49would have been met if I was doing the limit and if I had closed the drivers side window.

I just e-mailed you.

I had a 97 metro 4 door sedan. It had the 1.3l 4 cylinder and a 5 speed transmission. I got about 42-44mpg religiously. It was rated for 35mpg. I don't think there is a single person who bought a metro or festiva that will tell you that they aren't saving fuel unless their previous vehicle was a scooter or electric.

I bought a '95 Mazda MX-3 last year. I chose this car for its fuel efficiency, performance, size, comfort, utility and reliability. Since I was previously commuting by bicycle, I didn't save any gas money, but since I bought a small car, I am spending less than a lot of people around here. I'm getting a respectable 34-36mpg without trying to hypermile, and managed 44mpg+ on my best tank.

I bought a 1998 Chevy Metro in April and got the car for almost nothing. Against all odds, I rebuilt this little car with my mechanical skills to save it from the crusher and you can see all the documented repairs including parts cost by clicking on my signature image. Even though I have put around $700 in repairs (parts only - my labor) into it, it still pays me back every time I drive it. My Chevy truck was costing me $20.00 per day in fuel and even more over the weekend. On average, I would put $160.00 in fuel in the truck weekly. That dollar amount will drive the Metro for 2 months!

Who's crazy now?

I did not E-Mail this. I would rather have him return to the forum and check replies like a real reporter would
