hey everybody! i'm new here... i have a 04 mazda3 hatch atx with a 2.3L. any tips or mods would help greatly!

i added a simota sri just recently. still testing to see if it actually helped. i have had a buddy club condenser on for a while now. the engine is a lot smoother with it and help add a couple of mpg.

just an fyi... do not get goodyear eagle performance touring tires if you are looking to save gas. granted i'm only at 35psi (cold) and plan to go up slowly but i have dropped a couple of mpg. the reason for getting them for me was to have a nice, long lasting tire that can perform in the rain & snow.

Hello and welcome to the site sweets7pinoy. I moved your post into your very own thread so we can greet you properly.

As I said in the other thread, the 3 is a pretty descent car. Engine is a bit oversized if your looking for fuel economy, but when driven right it can still pull in some good numbers. I would think with a bit of practice you'll be hitting mid 30s very soon. Just make sure to check out the 100+ hypermiling tips.

Do you have any planned mods for it yet?

hey thanks!!! yeah, i can be good for a couple of days then my old tendencies try to come back. lol

as for mods... i would like to do more, i just don't know what. like i said, i have a short ram intake, still testing and a buddy club condenser. i am thinking about partially blocking the front air damns.

simota sri = simota short ram intake. it's like a mix between the cai & a wai. it has the larger filter of a cai but not located near the bottom of a car away from the engine. the filter (though blocked with a carbon fiber heat shield) is located right near the throttle body, about 6-7 inches away. so it's closer but not sucking in as much warm air as a wai.

buddy club condenser = basically a full grounding kit & a stabilizer kit rolled into one. it basically regulates the voltage and fully grounds the engine bay to give a smoother throttle response & acceleration.

my daily commute is almost all highway. both ways i probably do 75 miles on the highway and probably 10-20 or so around suburbia in the evenings.

any ideas for further future mods?

Welcome to the forums!

The partial grill block sounds good. Try doing some weight reduction also.

With that much highway. Head over to the aero forum. You can do a belly pan and grill block cheap. Of course the standard slow down on the highway applies.

If your not comfortable with it thats totally fine, but I'd recommend pumping up your tires to max sidewall right off the bat. The ride will be harsher, but your tires will last longer, you'll have better handling, and you'll get better mileage.
