Can you please elaborate on why is that?
After all there's everytime more pressure for tests to reflect real world conditions.

Maybe there will be no mpg regulations at all long as they are powered by ethanol or some renewable fuel?

After all they reduce our dependence on non-friendly oil rich countries.
They could even help reforest deserts?
Probably using some genetically modified extremely drought resistant corn or something.

"Third, CAFE mpg is very different from the fuel-economy-label mpg numbers on every new car. That’s because the CAFE figures are based on the original city and highway fuel-economy tests established in the Seventies, while the window-sticker numbers combine those values, along with the results of three other emissions tests, to produce mpg figures that better-match real-world driving. In general, the combined mpg on a vehicle’s label is about 20 percent lower than the CAFE mpg."

EV's already average over 100MPGe. They could *easily* average 150+ and 200-250MPGe is well within reach.

Why are we faffing around with ICE's?
