Middle of nowhere Nevada looks like that also. Actually kinda famous for it as a tourist attraction. One good sized earthquake could cause Virginia city to drop a hundred feet as the mine supports fail underneath. We also have mandatory surety bonds and clean up laws that nobody uses to restore the lands the mines are on. They don't restore anything.
