I used to blend toluene into my fuel at damn near 30%... cuz it was free. I never saw increased (seat of the pants) power or better economy from it, just cheaper fuel.

if u couldn't feel the difference between
50% aromatic content in gasoline compared to pump gasoline's measly 25% average
sorry i can't help you..
Toluene has more BTU per gallon than Diesel#2

Yeah, I know, I always thought it odd, too. But, I was enjoying the cheaper fuel, so not really a big deal to me.

Nope, 100% USDA certified, bona fide, unopened 5 gallon cans of industrial Toluene.
Tried MEK a few times, too, but that stuff plays heck on your skin, and Xylene wasn't as easy to get from work.

problem with high% Toluene by itself is is that flame speeds tend to slow down..
that's what the Meth is for!!
combustion accelerant!!
perhaps the ignition was not advanced enough to take full advantage of the blended Fuel's new characteristics?

Very possible. The engine certainly wasn't 'top notch', which is why I had no problem with trying things I hadn't really researched. If it blew, I'd just swap it for the fresh engine I had.
It never blew.
