MetroMPG.com mailbag: what years were Geo 3-cyl 5-speeds made?

Got this via e-mail today, posting here for posterity....

I am now very confused however as to which years the 3-cylinder 5-speed version was produced. I was told that only the four cylinder was produced starting in '95. But I see your '98 contradicts that. What's up? What years were the 3-cylinder 5-speeds available in the US? And in Canada? Was the three cylinder available in Canada during later years but not available in the US?

The hatchback cars were available with the 3-cylinder & manual shift every year they were produced and sold in both Canada & the US.

The sedan was sold with the 4 cylinder.

One member here has done a 3-cyl 5-speed conversion on his sedan.
