Agreed, but it has nothing to do with oil. They're just throwing around a bunch of technical jargon to try to impress/confuse people.

Adding dihydrogen monoxide to my cooling system really helped keep my engine happy! Of course it was half-empty before hand, and dihydrogen monoxide is just plain water, but it is much easier to sell if it sounds complicated.

Just illustrating the logical fallacies in these scammy products. Have you ever had a problem with clean oil clogging an oil filter? Of course not. But Motorkote doesn't clog filters! It doesn't contain agent orange. It doesn't cheat on its taxes. Surely if it doesn't do some bad things, it must be good!

So does it measurably improve performance? *crickets*

This is all marketing misdirection - they don't want you to linger on the glaringly obvious lack of any real benefit so they distract with nonsense. And it works.

For what it is worth, I've fallen victim to this snake oil marketing before (in my case it was Slick50). Lighten your wallet and improve acceleration...

I think I sprung for low-friction transaxle lube once, but it became a sunk cost with any benefit unknown.

The point was he played against them. I'd heard of STP.
We used STP and a 90% oil mixture for all the bearings in the satellites at huge aircrash. The enginers said it made a big difference in space for friction and oil movement. Couldn't document the difference in my car on earth.

Bingo. We spend millions testing fluids in engines to maximize fuel economy while maintaining reliability and engine life. Just swapping to a new engine oil is more than a year of testing.

'engine friction'

If you look into tribology, the science of lubrication, you find:
1) Engines rely on hydrodynamic lubrication.
2) Sliding and rolling surfaces are all separated by a film of oil.
3) The 'friction' is caused by hydrodynamic viscous shearing of the oil.
4) It's a 'viscosity' issue, just like aerodynamic surface friction drag. True for all non-ideal' fluids.
5) You could 'Teflon'-coat , or coat with anything else, till the cow's came home, and it wouldn't change a thing. Your solving a problem that doesn't exist.

6) The only thing which is 'known' to reduce engine 'friction' is 100% synthetic engine oil, of proper viscosity. Synthetic oil is actually of lower viscosity than it's API label rating, however, it's against the law for it to be advertised as such, do to a quirk in the law. It has a lower temperature pour-point, requires less cranking power. It is virtually ash-free. At extremely high temperature it still maintains a film strength associated with it's rated 'weight' because of extremely robust long-chain designer molecules.
