My Accord fell off of my jackstands.
You can see part of one stand behind the wheel. My car was on top of them when I ran inside. I had just removed the jack because I don't like to leave it out at night.
The neighbor had me put down another layer of gravel and apparently that could have killed me.
I just wanted a jacking plate like we had in the Army so my stands wouldn't settle.
I never thought they would tip over!
Clearly I have good luck, too.
I wasn't underneath.

I always (OK, usually!) put something under the stands so they don't do that. Same with the floor jack. They're really hard to get out of frozen mud! Any damage? I punctured a gas tank once when one of my Metros fell.

I once watched my neighbor drive up on ramps with the wheel turned. That was fun to watch.

As far as I can tell my car is okay. The top of the stands are still touching the jack points, the stands are just almost sideways.

I had the Superbeetle fall off it's jackstands, and it bent the worm gear in a Type III jack. I can't find a pic, but they are far superior to the Type I jack, and I haven't found a replacement.
Can't find my floor jack either, but that another story.

I shove my vehicle hard side to side after getting it on stands. It might not prevent/test them from folding from loose footing.

I pushed it, but clearly not hard enough.
ChrisFix and others recommend putting the wheel, if you remove it, or the spare tire under the side to prevent your vehicle from doing a chest compression.
I am trying to figure out where to get footlong pieces of railroad ties.
That would do it, right?
Some people say they always put down plywood. Someone said pressure-treated 2x12, which isn't available in my area.
Neither is steel diamond plate, just aluminum or vinyl.
Except someone suggested calling a metal supplier and it turns out we have one!

I'd use that concrete pad.

At least this time my car moves, but that isn't always the case.
Moving my Civic one foot sideways took a while.
I didn't realize that Home Depot's diamond plate was aluminum. I thought the smallest size was 24x24 and I thought that if I couldn't find smaller pieces I could cut 2 squares and leave the rectangle for my jack.

This it? I think it was from a bussy, but it was in one of my squarebacks
If the diamond plate is aluminum you can cut it with a carbide blade circular saw if you dont mind dulling the blade, but i use 12 x12x 1 cement garden bricks except on the f250 front end
