Filled up yesterday! I knew I had a good tank. I couldn't wait to fill up this time. 45.4545 mpg. That will be a hard one for me to beat.
I had my best trip yet that tank as well. Scanguage was showing 46.6 mpg when I shut the car off. I know the scanguage is showing low about 3-5 mpg so that trip was netting near 50! Wind was not pushing me either but hypermiling to the max.
I am definately seeing the benefits of pulse and glide vs steady gas. That trip I would pulse to 60 and glide to 40. When someone is behind me I would go a steady 50 until they decided to pass.
In the dense fog this morning scanguage showed 40mpg. I was going a steady 40mph most of the way. I was surised how much pulse and glide makes a difference instead of slow speed.
Seems as if 47mph is my vehicles sweet spot. Below 45mph in 5th gear my mpg begins to drop again and above 50mph the mpg drops.
Although I did not reach my goal of 50mpg by summers end
. Maybe I can actually do some real modding in the near future.
