My camaro needs headlights...

To start with, I'm just going to replace the existing headlights. But in the spirit of aero, and since I have to fix the stock bumper cover anyway (cracked in a few places), I want to do something like this:



Except make round cut-outs for something like 99ish Integra headlights, like so:



Not necessarily those lights exactly, but something similar. Unless I can find squareish headlights that fit those pockets without covers being welded in.

I'm also going to try out blocking the grille, and it's getting an e-fan sometime in the near future, as well as PS delete and A/C delete (A/C isn't all there anyway).

Aero is a bit wasted on this car, as I drive it with the tops out a lot... but what's the harm?

christ - are you most interested in aero, trying to upgrade your headlights, or just want different looking lights / front end?

i think you could probably completely block the grill openings if your air dam is in good shape. get that sorted out first, and that might let ya do more funky front bumper mods along with your lights, if thats what you're looking for

And why not just get the covers for the headlights and leave them? holes in them will just go straight in, instead of straight over.

This. I'm doing the same for my Saturn. Should look pretty sweet, IMO. Then you don't have to worry about rocks hitting whatever's behind the plastic, so you can mount some projectors behind them or whatever you want, really.

While I'm welding up the front bumper, I'm probably just going to weld in a flange around the headlight area and black out the edges of a piece of lexan to bolt in over the stock headlight area.

It's a 1992 RS 3.1V6 4 speed auto. The image is not my car.

Holes in the cover would not be "straight in" as you suggest. Look at the integra's headlights - they follow the contour of the front end while aiming straight. They'd do the same thing in the addition to the Camaro bumper, but I don't like the look of them on the squarish front end of the Camaro.

I'll probably also do the flange thing for the grille block once I'm comfortable with blocking the whole thing off. Flange, blacked out edges on a piece of lexan (or black urethane, piece of coroplast, etc.) with exposed screws, since I like that look when done correctly.

When I replace the headlights, I'm probably going to wire them up direct to the battery with a solenoid on a switch to power them, since the stalk switch doesn't work anyway. Hi's would be switched on by flipping another switch on the dash, unless I can find another multi-switch cheap enough. (Junkyard has a couple, might see about grabbing one first).

My car also doesn't have those 15" wheels on it. They're the optional 16" wheels on mine.

205/55R16 up front, 245/50R16 in the back. The tires cost more than the car did. :/

Seems like a simple swap if you can find a parts donor. Just put the polycarb over it and voila.

If you want to get fancy, there are H4 conversions you can get on Ebay. Instead of replacing the entire sealed beam you just replace a bulb. I've got em on my Rabbit and they work just as well as the stock units.
