My intro.

Hello,

Writing from Vancouver BC.

I own a 2000 toyota tacoma 4x4, 4cyl 2.7. running 5-30 Mobil 1 and with 40lbs tire pressure.

I do about 30% city driving %50 highway and 20% dirt roads/4x4ing

Kinda disappointed with the mileage when I first got it. Right now it is at 22mpg highway. This has dropped recently due to the A/C clutch refusing to disengage.

I am going to remove the mudflaps, seal around the headlights, change the drive train fluid to synthetic, remove the radio antenna.

A second thing I have always wanted to do was to add a header and free flow exhaust - I know this is mostly geared towards performance, but the toyota pickups usually get better mileage with this mod. (as long as my foot is not in it with the increased power...)

Another mod I want to do is change the automatic 4x4 hubs to manual ones. This way there is less rolling resistance when the truck is in 2wd.

I have ordered a scan gauge 2 to adjust my driving styles.

Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Dave

Curious to know if your ScanGauge came yet and what you think of it.

Using a "game gauge" to modify your technique behind the wheel has the biggest potential to improve economy.
