You're probably still rationalizing it along the lines of "winter allows me to appreciate the other seasons better."

well, you could go, but you might lose the friendship.....
And why move to a state suffering bankruptcy? And with the highest cost of living anywhere? And with the most imposing bearuracracy of anywhere in the US? IDK......

About the only way the bankruptcy affected me was in the really weird library hours they had. Yes it's expensive but as The Master Of Thrift, I managed to get by quite well for a modest sum- haven't done the numbers lately but I probably spent $800-900/mo for everything. The nicest parts are the ocean, the beach, and the weather. Too bad I wasn't out there 60 years ago, before the human infestation became so great.
P.S. The best part was being able to be FUNCTIONAL outside without battling the elements and 4 layers of clothing. That's like 6 months more productivity per year.
Oh, and quite unlike home, it's the national epicenter for artistic and cool hot rod activity- much fun for gearheads!

Don't get me wrong. I was born in Long Beach and as a baby played on the beach so much my hair was sun bleached red. Some of my earliest memories were of the Queen Mary and the F1 race they have there.
But Cali certainly has its bad points.

I think Darin would find himself quite surprised to find he has a wife let alone a child!

I wouldn't be surprised. I'd marry Darin if he asked - he's Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Glad to see you've got the shop cleared out! It's such a great space. I'd say its even suitable for staying in for a couple days at a time if there's room for a cook pot on the wood stove. Go Darin!

I had to google "modines".
It gave me this... which I don't think you're referring to...
