about how much did you spend on the tail light conversion? Was it hard to do? Yeah i heard that blue and red LED lights are illegal in most areas.

Which LED bulbs did you get? Are they the units with LEDs on the sides that shine into the reflector? Are they visible from the sides of the car?

Yeah, I want to see what it looks like too. By the way around how much did you spend on the project for the tail light lens?

Hey, those look great, are more reliable and save fuel. I can't believe I haven't thought for a moment of doing this. I'm going to my virtual garage right now and adding this to my planned future mods list.

Changing running lights to LED's will save a minuscule amount of power, and you might be able to notice the difference while waiting at a red light with the engine off, but I don't think you notice a different in the FE.
Another difference is the brake lights turn on instantly, and so they will "grab" the attention of the drivers behind you better than incandescent bulbs; and ditto for turn signals.

That's my main reason. When I am at a stoplight at night, I turn off the engine and the headlights, but I keep the running lights on. That way I am not taxing the battery when I restart the car, and my car is still visible to cars pulling up behind me.

Right, me too. I've changed all the running lights except the headlights and the front marker lights, which I could not figure out how to access... oh, and there is still a small incandescent in the compartment on my dash.
But, I have LED's in the "parking lights", the tail lights, the front, side, and rear turn signals, the license plate lights...

hey guys,
I dropped off the grid for a while after my last post in this thread.
I no longer use the Binger profile on here because I can't remember the password and no longer use the email address that was linked to that old profile.
When I was living in Nebraska I had no issues. the state and the cops have no issue with lights as long as they light up in the proper color and you can't see any exposed white light.
These units were what truckers can use to update the housings on their trailers and trucks to LED's
They cost me about $15 apiece.
They fit very tightly in the holes I made and I used silicone to seal it up and secure them in place.
I never had any issues with the lights over the 6 months I used them.
I sold the car because the 3speed auto was on the way towards death.
