Well, this hasn't been a good week. Dropped the kids back into college, no money left over for the next couple weeks, bad weather down and back (3 1/2 hours for a sub 2 hour drive...).
Wednesday morning my wife fell down the stairs and broke her shoulder... The ball on the arm bone broke, but not clear through and not jsut a hairline crack. Orthopedic guy is pleased it will heal well and soon. No guarantee though, as she has a raft of medical issues. But it really could have been a lot worse.
That same night though, our 11 year old Akita finally reached the point we had no choice left. We've seen it coming for the last year, but the past week has been very difficult for him. Sadly, Thursday we had to put him down. The thing is our memories are of him with his ears up and tail wagging. Instead of waiting for him to get worse and start biting and growling. Vet came to the house for less stress on the dog. very quiet and very quick. But its been very rough on us... Certainly better for the dog though.
So last night, a very close friend convinced me to take the Jeep out today with him and another friend. I know some don't approve of offroading for the sake of it, but its what I enjoy and realize it ISN'T good for my mileage. Today's trip was very close to home and very scenic.
I of course got stuck on the first climb, but we all got stuck once or twice. We couldn't get everywhere we wanted to due to the snow and steep climbs. We feel the run was worth the time just for the wildlife, Elk, deer and an Eagle.
He would make a nice trophy...
Scott digging in.
Just a little bit above Stockton.
We interupted his meal, and this is the best shot I got...
Dave digging in too...
They weren't too concerned and didn't run away.
I really hate digital zoom...
Decided to call it a day, and chilling before heading back home... The black Jeep is mine, the silver one is my friend Dave's and the blue is my good friend Scott, who is here on the list sometimes.
We had a good time, sorta easy trails, if they weren't covered with snow!!!
As bad as the week has been, I needed this little trip out. And to spend some time with really great friends. The wildlife today was just so much mroe icing on the day...
