Is my Scangauge II an antique?

Hi Folks,

When I joined EM, I brushed the dust off of my old Scangauge 2 box and ordered the suction cup mount for it from here. I've fallen in love with it all over again.

I noticed that once in a while, when I get in the car, the screen is half blank, with a bunch of boxes across the top row...like it had not shut off when I last turned the car off. I unplug it, plug it back in, and it works just fine again.

Is this likely due to the unit just being old, or simply just outdated software? I just checked, and my SGII software is version 3.00 (I can't remember, but I think I bought it in 2007). I see that the current version software is 4.13, so obviously me and my SG are way behind.

Is mine too old to upgrade, or can they update any of them? Do they ever die of old age?

Thanks,
Rem

I think mines is at times. It was purchased new and had v 3.15. I sent it off to get it upgraded before use. I got an issue where it lights up when I open the door to the car and reads the previous data. Once started it reads current data, then goes blank for a while, then comes back on once the engine reachs operating temperature.

I would contact linear logic and tell them of your issues. Ask them if a software update might fix your issue. If you ask for the ecomodder version, you can get it done for free (minus shipping to them).

Mine has had that happen before, but I couldn't tell you which version it is. I did buy it in Feb 2008, I can't believe it's been that long! IIRC it did do it more frequently in cold temps.

It's been pretty strong. I used to carry it in my pocket and cracked the front of the case where the skinny plastic part is. I also bent the cable too many times and it has a poor connection, I always planned on replacing the connector with a 90* connector but I don't even own the proper crimping tool, plus I'm so lazy.
