It's still a transmission, arguably.

Frankly, I could do with at least two more gears in my Insight. The little 1.0 struggles with anything but the shallowest hills in 5th, but on level ground in lean burn it could still use a taller top gear. I'd also appreciate having a slightly shorter 2nd and another gear between 2nd and third.

Neither one of the two electric motors, even though they're reversible, but the planetary-geared power split device is the closest to a transmission properly said in the Toyota HSD setup.
