26mpg to 66 mpg
Just made the final gasoline entry for the FrankenJetta and wanted to give a brief overview of the success I achieved thanks to Ecomodder.
First entry 26mpg
Final entry 66mpg
Lifetime avg 46mpg
Fuel saved 460gallons
Money saved $1600US
Thanks to everyone, especially Darin and the other originators of EM  .
Now its time to start another success story.

Sort of sad, enjoyed watching your progress and success. I guess we should look for 100 mpg from the diesel since you ended up 100% over EPA!

Why remove the fuel log when the diesel conversion is done ?
You could treat that as a "different" car, and keep both logs.

Well, I figure that it won't be a gasoline car anymore, so why not change the status to "retired"? The log will go off the charts after 90 days without an entry, anyway. Kinda' like when Basjoos swapped his engine to Lean Burn.

Out of curiosity, how did you determine your fuel usage on the last tank? I'm assuming you didn't fill your tank up with gas and then pull out the gas engine.

Dave- I did fill the tank. Same station, same pump, same procedure. I'll be recovering the fuel and putting it in my Pathfinder today.
I've been a diesel tech for over 25 years and this is my first diesel vehicle. Figured it was about time  . |

I think that falls under the "you might be an ecomodder if..." category.
You might be an ecomodder if you fill up your fuel tank purely for the purpose of accurately determining your mileage--even if you have no intention of using that fuel in the car.
