Did he waffle about, claim he knew best while ignoring the professionals in that field (not to mention his own Federal Agencies), twit that it was nothing but a lib hoax, etc. and waste valuable time? Or did he seek out the best counsel in a timely fashion and act accordingly?

Yes. IIRC 1000 deaths in USofA before any action. He was not a germaphobe President.

A little memory refresher:

Quote:
The CDC response to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic was led by science and continually evolved to meet the nation’s needs as events unfolded and as more information became available. However, a consistent underlying communications strategy underscored the entire CDC response. The strategy is based on the emergency risk communications principles of quickly, proactively and transparently communicating accurate information to the public and to partners...
Quote:
2009 H1N1 was first detected in the United States in April 2009.
Infection with this new influenza A virus (then referred to as ‘swine origin influenza A virus’) was first detected in a 10-year-old patient in California on April 15, 2009.
Two days later, CDC laboratory testing confirmed a second infection with this virus in another patient,
CDC remained in close contact with the international health community as the outbreak unfolded and on April 18, 2009, under the International Health Regulations (IHR) the United States International Health Regulations Program reported the 2009 H1N1 influenza cases to the World Health Organization (WHO).
In an article entitled Swine Influenza A (H1N1) Infection in Two Children --- Southern California, March-April 2009 published on April 21, 2009 in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), CDC described the cases and requested that state public health laboratories send to CDC all influenza A specimens that could not be subtyped.
By April 21, 2009, CDC had begun working to develop a virus that could be used to make vaccine to protect against this new virus (called a candidate vaccine virus).
CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on April 22, 2009, to coordinate the response to this emerging public health threat.
On April 26, 2009, the United States Government determined that a public health emergency existed nationwide.
On May 1, 2009, CDC test kits began shipping to domestic and international public health laboratories.
https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/cdcresponse.htm

And so on... I just highlighted some of the things CDC and the U.S. Government did in two weeks. Looks to me like they were on it like the proverbial stink on isht. And this was without any heads-up from any evil foreigners.

Quote:
It is estimated that 11–21% of the then global population (of about 6.8 billion), or around 700 million–1.4 billion people contracted the illness — more in absolute terms than the Spanish flu pandemic, with about 150,000–575,000 fatalities.
Yikes!
Quote:
A follow-up study done in September 2010 showed that the 2009 H1N1 flu was no more severe than the yearly seasonal flu.
Huh? OK then.
A 0.02% mortality rate is bad (every single death is one too much), but not disruptive. Despite the absolute death toll that is nothing exceptional.
One flu over the cuckoo's nest.

The problem with corona is that the death rate is far worse. About 140,000 infected, half of them cured already, but over 5000 people died.
Some of the currently ill people will die, so I guess about 5% of all infected people will die. If Corona infects as many people as the swine flu did then about 50 million people will die.
It would even be worse than the Spanish flu a century ago.

Well, looks to me like there's a lot of nuance, variables, and complexity to this sort of thing and I won't claim authoritative proficiency. However, I do know to evaluate where to get my information, ya know, to keep things in perspective. Does that include reading Red State or taking a drive-by from Crazy Conservative at face value? Nah, I think not.

Your underlined text isn't hyperlinked. DDG returns a .com for the first. The second one is a Facebook page. Ain't nobody got time for that [where's Adam] Shiff.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

You can vett their bonafides here: https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/worldometers.info

Look for Confirmed Cases and Deaths by Country, Territory, or Conveyance. It's a table [I don't know how to embed]. Two countries have Total Cases per Million (right hand column) in single digits. Those two closed their borders early, one day apart.

Instead of those wackadoodle sites why not ignore Steven Crowder or Tim Pool instead?

Yes, instead of an exhaust fan, it pressurizes the interior so any leaks are outbound.

It's not for the virii per se. The air is pretty bad here right next to the trainyards. Any dust that carries virii would be captured, but it's mostly about secondary infection stuff.

I'm also thinking about far-ultraviolet lights on a timer in the kitchen at night.

They weren't intended to be hyperlinked. I saw Red State when looking for coronavirus information and an article there looked strikingly like some of the stuff posted in this thread. Crazy Con is right on the demotivational poster at the top of the page; perhaps I erred in underlining that one... or both?

I don't underline much. Blue text with a red underline used to be the norm. Not even sure how you'd do that in vBulletin.

It sounds to me like the right is Okay with the trajectory of things, but the left is freaking because this shows free-market capitalism is more nimble than socialism.
