New to EcoModder

Hey just thought I would say hi to everyone. I just joined EcoModder last week, and have already got some good ideas to mod my car, and also some good ideas for better driving.

I don't have what most people would call a fuel efficient car. I drive a '99 Oldsmobile intrigue, but I am see great results already. I drive 37.5 miles to and from work each day, and I have tested some aero mods that have shown great results! I did I side mirror delete, (I currently have them back on the car; I didn't like the huge blind spots when I was backing up), removed my spoiler, removed hood emblem, and mud flaps. With those done, I moved my average mpg from 27 on the highway to 32!

More mods to come....

Hi OLDSMODDER, I like oldsmobiles too. Great cars. What powerplant does your olds have? Maybe try synthetic lubes, higher tire psi, & any weight reduction will help.

Hi Ex-x-fire. My Intrigue has the aluminium block 3.5 in it. Some people say that they aren't reliable, but I have nothing to complain about, other than they use a bit of oil...big deal. I plan to run synthetic in my transmission when I change the fluid in spring. As for my tires, I run 35psi in them now. Do you run more?

Some guys run their tires at or near the max, but watch out for center tire wear. I run around 35psi.

Alohaspirit,
Haha, ya, it probably didn't really affect the car at all, but every little bit helps, right? My theory is that if I could remove 10 small drag causing item like that, then maybe I will see a slight change in mpg. Worth a try.

I am excited about the drive to work this morning, because I get to test my mod that I did last night to my car. I used coragated plastic and smoothed out some of the front end of my car...wondering if I will see a difference.
