Smile hey everyone

I'm Frans and I live in the netherlands. I came by this site and since I drive a lot for my work (1700+ km a week) I am very interested. I drive a citroén xsara coupe 2.0 diesel. It's not the best car with over 280.000 km on the clock, but is fairly economic and has cruise control. I'm very keen on trying some stuff for myself like flat floor pan, airdam, sideskirts and rear wheelcover and when thats done a real live driving eco ecu tuning. this because it's fairly easy to get it loking good. also hoping for some good mpg increase. I'm doing 45 mpg atm at 120 km/h (75mph) maybe up to 60 mpg.

Welcome. With the amount of driving you do, even mods getting 3% better fuel economy will save you money

I'll be not too far from you in May - visiting family in Stadskanaal. So that will be my big road-trip of the year where I will be hoping to beat my record for economy.

With luck - or should I say if I (and the wife) have the patience to P&G and go slow enough - I might even make it there and back on a single tankfull! +- 1600kM

3.14L/100km? ...hmmnnn - perhaps not!!

Welcome, NickelB NL.

That's a lot of driving. Hope you'll document your project here.

I will do my best to document all. My grillblock isn't working for me. 1/3 shut. But no difference at all. Maybe i wil try a airdam up front and rear weelskirts. My girlfriend comes from nieuw buinen, thats less then 1 km from stadskanaal. Wich way are you coming from, i drive the german a31 up and down. Good read for road testing up and down.

We'll be driving the most direct route from Calais.

My in-laws used to live in Drouwenermond - only a stones-throw from Nieuw Buinen - but they are now in Gasselternijveenschemond, which is not much further away, but much harder for an Englishman to spell - let alone pronounce!!!

(I think it is the longest place name in the Netherlands?)
