New guy from southern california (2006 Scion xb manual)
I drive a 06 scion xb manual. I used to drive at least 80mph on freeways but because of this uprising gas prices I have decided to start saving gas and money. Last fill up I calculated 32 mpg. And I want more mpg than 32 so I have joined ecomodder to get tips and tricks.

Welcome commuterbox,
I also drive an '06 xB manual, and averaged 49.4 mpg in it for over 30,000 miles. Recently I started driving to keep the catalytic converter lit, and have averaged 45.6 mpg doing that for 2600 miles.
Basically, I drive slow - 60 mph tops, and coast every opportunity I get.

Awesome. If I get around low 40's I will be more than happy. Do you recommend using ultragauge? I just ordered one and I have read from clubxb having problems at first but I am not quite sure of they found a solution. Thanks in advance.

Definitely get an Ultragauge. Instrumentation like that is invaluable for monitoring your fuel economy and driving techniques. Plus it can be a game to see how high you can raise your high scores.
The 31.4 mile trip is driving from the top of the Grapevine to Magic Mountain in Valencia. The 28.7 mile trip is from the town of Tehachapi toward Bakersfield.
I'm on Club xB as BestmpgxB. Find any post there from me, and click on the 1000 km tank link in my signature. You'll find lots of fuel economy tips there.

Generally the more unaerodynamic the vehicle, the more high speed negatively affects the economy.

Congratulations. 500 mile tanks, maybe even 600 mile tanks, may be in your future.
Click on User CP, then on Edit Signature.
