Yes. In stock form, you can only use electric assist if you bury the mpg gauge below 50. With MIMA, you can leave the engine in lean burn, and add or subtract power with IMA. You can do target driving without speeding up or slowing down.
I don't have a MIMA yet. I can't justify the price of a pre-assembled unit (mpg is just a hobby for me after all, and there are still cheaper ways to buy mpg). And I don't yet have the soldering skills to tackle building my own.
